We landed in Phuket yesterday morning. We hired a taxi (actually a van since we have so much luggage - yes I went a litle crazy in India) and headed to our hotel, the Baan Krating resort. According to our internet research, it is an out-of-the-way self contained resort, with its own private beach and accessible only through the Le Meridien drive. Interesting, but everything else sounded great, so we booked it. As we discovered, it really is out of the way; our driver had to stop three times for directions. And when we finally found the Le Meridien, the road goes under an overpass that our van wouldn't fit through, so the Baan Krating sent down their vehicle (a pickup with a stock rack like attachment) to pick us up. It was very difficult to sit there for fifteen minutes staring at the beach which was so tantalizing while we waited for our ride. But, they came, we climbed in the back with our seven pieces of luggage, and finally arrived at our destination. And yes it was worth the wait. This place is a tropical paradise. And very, very well run. Everyone is smiling and helpful; the buildings are well maintained; the internet is high speed. I am in heaven.
Today we're going to rent a scooter and check out the island. But first, here are a few pics from yesterday.
