For my last 2 weeks in Rawai (phuket island town), I moved to a nicer bungalow owned by a friend of mine. I got a good deal and it is tucked away closer to the mountains....it is on a loop that I have been running every other day now to keep from getting to fat...maybe 4-5miles.
Unrelated is this news: so one rainy day I felt the need to run in the rain. It was the usual 5 mile run to Nai Harn Beach. Trotting at a snails pace along the side of the road past all the coconut palms, gasoline vendors and screaming bar girls...around the 2.2 km lake that is fed from the high tide of the ocean and along the ocean itself and back...I nauseously(my new word) flop my soaked shoes next to my door and fall under the fan in my hot room. I head out for the evening with my flip flops and notice one shoe remains....who the hell steals one shoe? A DAMN DOG! Of course we all know not to leave your shoes lying around when dogs are near...but one may forget that in Thailand, dogs are everywhere and hence, the thief stole it whilst I slept. The next night, I awake to loud barking for an hour...I lay there tossing and turning thinking how to get the neighbors dog to shut up...then I realize it is much to loud to be next door...the dog is at my door. What for? Is it the shoe thief? Back for more, ya know you feed them once and they come back...he wants the other shoe! I blow open the front door to find the shaggy critter barking relentlessly at my obviously uninterested sock. I was almost amused. I relocated his boring toy to my laundry basket and finally got some zzzz's. UPDATE: I walked up the driveway to the house behind my bungalow...guess what was propped up near the mailbox, mauled and muddy? I reclaimed it and ran with it anyway. Then I stole their dog.
