“It may interest you to know that the Boney M Christmas album is just as popular here in Australia as it is in Canada.” |
Christmas in Australia leaves a bit to be desired. Maybe it's the lack of snow. Or maybe the fact that hardly anybody seemed to decorate (hardly any lights on people's houses). It's a weird feeling to celebrate Christmas when it's sunny and around 30 degrees Celsius. Weird, but still enjoyable.
To celebrate our first Christmas away from Canada, Heather and I decided to deck our halls a bit (technically we don't have a hall, but that's beside the point) and put up a few decorations. We didn't get a tree, but we did get a potted plant that we put some ornaments on. We exchanged gifts, went to a nice church service, spoke to both of our families back home, hung out on the beach, cooked our very own chicken dinner (quite good), worked on a Christmas puzzle, and watched National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. Come to think of it, we packed quite a bit in that day!
It was great to be able to talk to all of our families both in Nova Scotia and in Saskatchewan. We thought it was really funny that our dog Sunny was causing some havoc when he was left alone while everyone else went to church. Turns out that he managed to pull the tablecloth off the dining room table when it was completely loaded. Too bad we missed that.
We hope that you all had a great Christmas out there. We look forward to celebrating with you all when we get back to Canada.
By the way, it may interest you to know that the Boney M Christmas album is just as popular here in Australia as it is in Canada.
Feliz navidad,
Michael & Heather
