Don't worry...we are still here and having a wonderful time, just having such a wonderful time that it takes a little longer each day to recover and get going again for the next buffet of sensory indulgence.
Our Anniversary dinner cruise on Monday was superb. The boat was gorgeous and totally glass enclosed (well, except for the bottom) so there really wasn't a bad seat for anyone. However, thanks to my pre-planning, we did have one of three BEST tables, which were right at the front of the boat, so no obstructed views from other people or equipment. And talk about VIEWS! We were overwhelmed with Paris by day...I can't even begin to describe the other side of beauty that it displays at night! Ahhh...the City of Light!
Our dinner, from appertif to dessert was another feast for the soul and senses. Dave even took a picture of his dessert! There was a live band and we danced in between breathtaking sights. Dave will have to tell you about the group of Japanese at the back of the boat on the smoking terrace. More funny stories!
After the remarkable dinner and cruise, we walked to the Eiffel Tower (right across the boulevard where the boat docked) and went to the top for more spectactular night time views of Paris. It really does just keep getting better and better every day. Unfortunately, we keep getting cumulatively less able to maintain the pace of this "moveable feast". But hey...this is once in a lifetime!
On my birthday...whoohoo, I'm 50...we visited Notre Dame, the Concergerie and Saint Chapelle (and strolled back through the little streets to do more shopping for family and friends). Then it was back to the apartment for a nap to rest up for my birthday dinner at Le Petit Zinc. On the way to the restaurant I found my sister Pam the perfect birthday present! i JUST LOVE THIS PLACE! Dinner was another "beyond words" experience...you really can't describe the exceptional taste and presentation of good French food...you can't do it justice, but I will try later when we get back to the States and my mind is clearer and more awake.
Tomorrow we are off via the Batobus (or boat taxi) to revisit the Champs-Elysee, a couple of museums, and another quick stop to the Louvre.
Sorry for not putting in as many details, but we will make up for it when we get back home and go through all of our pictures and menus and memory banks. And thanks to all of you that have left comments or sent emails. We are enjoying those immensely.
Au revoir until the next entry...
P.S. to Debbie: YES! Paris is also the City of Romance...it is everywhere, it gets in your blood and becomes part of your behavior here. You just can't stop yourself! Then again...Who Wants to Stop?!?!?!?!
