After none of us getting more than 3 1/2 to 4 hours of sleep the night before (Gary, Delia, Jason, Chad and Zack were in town.), we loaded up and headed out by 6:15. After about 30 minutes on the highway, I'm finally finding a comfortable position and am about ready to go back to sleep when BAM!!!!, we get rammed from behind by a car. It jerked us all forward. We were very surprised and a little shook up by what had happened. As Dad is slowing down to pull over, we see the car that hit us getting off at the exit ramp. They didn't even stop to see if we're okay!! It was still dark out, so we have no idea what kind of car it was, the color, license plate...nothing. We have no idea what happened. We were throwing out all these guesses. I hope the front of his car is dented in and headlights are broken. Serves them right! When Dad pulled over, we got out to check out the back of the van. At first, we thought that everything was okay. So we get back in and start on down the highway again. Mom notices a little later that the right side of the back bumper is flapping in the wind. We get off at an exit to check things out. The right side of the van got pushed out of place, some screws popped out, etc. Dad patched it the best he could until we get home. There's some black electrical tape holding it together. HeHe When we realized that the person hit the right side of the van, I started thinking about how fortunate it was that we didn't spin out. Things could have been a lot worse. It's such a freak thing! We were driving along at about 70 mph; there was not a whole lot of traffic, no one was hitting their brakes. That put a little bit of a damper to the start of our trip. :P
After we got back on the road, I watched "Sense & Sensibility," then took a nap for a little while. I was so tired! I woke up just south of Atlanta. We stopped near the Georgia/Alabama line for lunch at Schlotzsky's Deli. I haven't eaten there in a long time. It was good! After lunch, I read for a while. (We crossed over into Central Time Zone, so we gained an hour. That's always a good thing!) Towards the last part of our drive, with around an hour and a half to go, we were all getting a little loopy and were ready to get out of the van!! We stopped at the Florida welcome center to get some information and just stretch. Once we were in Florida, I just wanted to get there!!! We finally arrived at a little after 4 Central Time/5 your time. A total of an 11 hour drive! Getting hit and trying to fix the bumper made the trip longer.
We checked in, then came up to our condo on the 5th floor. It is such a nice place! We have two great bedroom suites, kitchen, living room and screened in porch. We look out onto the golf course and bay. We can also see the pool and hot tub. The bedroom that I'm in has a king sized bed with lots of fluffy pillows, a love seat sitting area with a huge picture window. A bathroom is connected to it. I love it! I have this huge extremely comfortable king size bed all to myself!! :D As soon as we brought everything up, I unpacked and got settled in. The next thing was to help Dad set up the WiFi connection for his laptop. We watched a gorgeous sun set over the trees and water. We headed out to get something to eat after that. Dad wanted Mexican - always! - so we found a place named Guadelajara. It was good. We stopped by the grocery store just down the street to get breakfast/lunch things and snacks. When we got back to the room, I got ready for bed, then just crashed! I read a little, then fell into a deep sleep on the super comfy bed. Ahhhhhhh!!
