We've moved to Panajachel on the edge of Lake Atitlán.
Pana, as it is often called, is a vert touristy resort town with no heart or endearing features. It's saving grace and greatest attraction is it location on the shore of Lake Atitlán.
We sat at a restaurant at the lakeside and watched as the sun started to set behind the three volcanoes which surround the lake; San Pedro (3020m), Atitlán (3537m), Tolimán (3158m).
The lake itself was formed 85,000 years ago after an enormous eruption caused a large area of land to collapse forming a deep depression which quickly filled with water - Lake Atitlán.
It is approximately 300m deep and covers 128 sq kms, and mysteriously its water level fluctuates from year to year.
Small motor boats ply the lake and in the afternoon the wind gets up and the lake gets quite choppy.
It really is a beautiful location and we wouldn't have missed it for the world.
