Day 15 A Mantle of White
We wanted to spend the night here at Pammukale just to learn from Hallis (Peri Pension Cappadocia) that we just have to spend a few hours there and we will be done with viewing Pammukale! Anyway he is right! Personally, I think that this place is overrated and is better viewed from a postcard or afar! haha. It wasn't extremely spectacular close up or perhaps I set my expectations too high! I think the latter is more true! I am a diplomatic person too. So anyway this place looks like a mantle of white! As though we are on a snow capped mountain on a hot day which equates to surreal behaviour, a symbol of arrmagedon. Okies I shall not get dramatic here. The white colour of the rocks is in fact calcium carbonate, and this mineral comes from the water flowing down the rocks! Over time, this mineral deposits on the rocks, giving it a white colour. I was joking with SK that my feet might contain acid and hence react with the calcium carbonate and destroy it. Vivi said we could try squeezing orange juice onto the rocks. We have many shitty thoughts.
So anyway this is Pammukale for you. Quite beautiful shots isn't it! A word of caution is that the algae on the rocks make it v slippery. This is especially important as we have to walk bare footed in a bid to preserve this area! This old caucasian man fell! Ouch! I nearly fell too. Also, the sun was how blinding that day...always bring along a pair of sunglasses when you are in Turkey! It's my most important gear there but I happened to be wearing glasses on this very day at Pammukale..so I had to wear a cap instead. (another v important gear). Still I could hardly open my eyes and the mantle of white made it worse! For the hot blooded guys, this is a good place for girl watching! There were quite a number of bikini babes! I think they went for some mineral bath that we eschewed from!
As usual, we became lazy after walking for a while and started sitting on the grass and had the thoughts of whipping out our cards for a game of bridge...
