We travelled up the Tasman coast through the Kauri forests, a journey that was long but amazing country, a different view at every turn of the road and arrived at our hotel The Copthorne right on the Bay at Pahia. Nice room looking out at the tennis courts, carvery meal and a good nights sleep after a stroll along the shore.
Next morning down to the cruise terminal to board a 6o' catamaran power boat for a six hour cruise delivering mail and parcels around the bay of Islands and a stop for lunch and a swim before heading out to Cape Brett and a scary plunge through the infamous "hole in the rock" in a six foot swell, Wow! The whole trip was brilliant, fantastic sightseeing, and interesting commentary.
Now ,today we are in Tairua on The Coromandel peninsula, this is the ultimate place to retire to, so relaxing a tidal estuary and a ten minute walk to a surf beach, we are staying at the Pacific Harbour lodge, wood chalets, close to the water, just heaven, if everywhere is like this as we travel on then we shall be more than happy. tomorrow we have to be in Rotorua by 4.00pm for a Maori Hangi, so, watch this space!
