We spent one full day in Ometepe. we were staying in a very rural area. It had a beach out front facing onto the lake. The lake here is ok to swim in. We all got up and met for breakfast and then we went horse riding. The horse ride went along the beach and then into the countryside. It was really nice, it lasted three hours. We visited some petroglyphs that are rock carvings made in pre colombian times. The mayan culture didnt stretch to Nicaragua so they are people that were around at a similar time but not so intelligent and far as advanced as the Mayans.
In the afternoon some people walked to a swimming hole, it seemed quite manmade from their photos. I stayed on the beach and caught some rays.
The place we were staying was really cute it had hammocks outside and rocking chairs too which are very Nicaraguan!
Two girls who were sharing had a bit of a torid time, the first night they turned on the airconditioning and a snake jumped out. The second night a spider the size of my hand was in their room too, a tarantula thing! ooh I was glad I was nowhere near those things!
