Our journey down the east coast of the south island on a westerly wind with a northernly mindset was a cocktail on the rocks with a twist of beauty and the beast.

Simple mathemetics deduces the following:

Landscape, wildlife, mountains and streams, wide roads, easy parking, fresh air= beauty.

Boy Racers, Ugly inhabitants, Many sheep, Hunger mood swings, Petrol refills, mountain trails, GRAVEL ROADS and other tourists= the beast.

We:

Viewed the Moreaki boulders which did exactly what it said on the tin and were indeed boulders on a beach in Moreaki.

Attempted to speculate upon the vast numbers of Penguins inhabiting Omaru which somehow dissapeared when we arrived.

Conversed about the rigours of travelling and cultural differences with an aged hippy sporting yellowed teeth and running a 70's kitsch coffee shop with a vinyl clock.

Watched whipped cream clouds filter through the jagged peaks of mountains.

Did tai chi on a rock over a vast lake.

Navigated gravel roads through mountain valley's and were spooked by trees across paths and boars heads on sticks.

Mimicked Tarkovsky's directorial genius by lying face down in a freezing waterfall.

Drank many coffee's in many roadside cafe's.

Chose jazz soundtracks on the car soundsystem to match the ever changing grooves of the land.
