Most of the people came in on tour buses and looked like they were having a great time.  It's definitely an experience that's better with a crowd and if you're willing to get into it and have fun.

The food was good.  The main dish was a pig that was roasted in a traditional method buried in a chamber underground.  There was cole slaw with pineapple and macaroni salad and green salad and beans.  It seemed like a pretty traditional hawaiian barbeque.

The entertainment was fun.  I thought the MC reminded me of William Shatner, big voiced but kind of silly.  The dancers were skilled and their costumes were exotic.  Musicians were playing.  It was well done.  I was very impressed with the production quality.

A lot has changed over the year. Just got back from Germaine's Luau (May 2007) and it was terrible. Food too salty to eat. Cake too dry to swallow without a drink. Waited 30 mins. in drink line and missed beginning of show and the ceremony of bringing cooked pig from ground. The pig came up in shavings, not the whole pig as at some luaus. "Free" drinks are 4 oz. -- for $8.00 you can get a normal size drink. Show was OK, but not the best in the area. Be careful of seats; if sitting at the tables on the outer edges one cannot see dancers on the stage without standing on your seats! In the front one sits on the ground on mats that soon become baried in the sand as people sitting at near by tables walk on your mat to get to their seats...so you are sitting in the sand with no chairs, by end of night back is hurting and sand is in your underware. Look around -- worth paying a little more to go to a luau where you can eat the food and see a top-notch show.

As a hawaii-born girl checking out the luaus back home, I just had to comment about the pig...and ALL Hawaii born people will attest to the truth of this. If the pig comes out of the underground oven WHOLE,it's NOT authentically cooked. TRUE TRADITIONAL HAWAIIAN IMU COOKED Pig comes out...shredded and almost unrecognizable. That would be due to 8-10 hrs of slow cooking. Any other way is fake. Now I know which luau to go to...if they cook the pig the real way...that would make them honest. Thanks for the info
