I've visited quite a lot of places in new zealand already so iv just decided to group everything in the north island together. we had a long flight from argentina, leaving buenos aires at 8pm on the 7th and because of the time difference, arrived 4am on the 9th.

flew into aukland which was quite nice, very similar to your average city at home and it was funny to see all the same shops as in manchester after being in south america for so long. there was also a giant santa on the side of a big department store but it had a very creepy beckoning finger lol.

then went up north to Paihia in the bay of islands which is nice but theres not much going on except for boat trips. went to try and swim with dolphins and we saw loads of them but didnt actually get to swim cos there were baby dolphins with them and theyre protected. anyway was cool to see so many

went on a trip up to cape reigna which is at the very north of the north island and wnet sand boading on these HUGE sand dunes and it was so cool! the only problem was trekking up to the top of the sand dunes with the sand falling away under ur feet. it was like 2 steps forward 1 back.

on our way back to aukland we stopped off at a place called whangerai and theres nothing much to do there but nearby are the Poor Knights Islands which are rated in the top 10 diving spots in the world so we went diving there. obviously though cos weve not done our diving course we went down with the instructors holding our hands lol. wow was so good though swimming with all these sholes of fish and all the wierd coral and stuff on the rock - it was really ace.

then back to acukland before heading down to Hahei and cathedral cove but it wasnt nearly as impressive as its supposed to be but nevermind. and then to Raglan which is a big surfing place but i was only there for a day so didnt bother taking a lesson but it was a nice hostel and good weather so i was happy. also managed to leave my mobile phone here so am still in the process of trying to get it back.

Went to Waitomo for the afternoon to see all the caves down there. omg the glow worms are soo cool and there are MILLIONS of them. except the guide told us that they are in fact maggots and they glow because it burns off the crap and also to attract flies (who are in fact their parents cos maggots are fly larvae) to eat them. lovely. i would have prefered just to think of them as little fairy lights but no

then on to Rotorua to stay with relatives but have done a whole separate section on that

after which we went down to Taupo and did my SKYDIVE! was soo cool! haha i bet u never thought ud hear me say that. anyway taupo from 12 000 feet is very beautiful but didnt see much of it from any other angle.

also the next day did the Tongarero crossing which was good but so unbelievably tiring cos it took us 8 hours to trek. and was all up and down and they so lie when saying the first bit is uphill but then it flattens out. absolute rubbish - its up and down the whole way and is definately a very tough trek. good though.

and im now in wellington which is a really cool city, full of strange architecture and artwork all over the place. so im trying to find a job to earn some money as im spending far too much but nobody wants to employ me just for a month. il c how it goes in the next few days tho...

ended up gettin a job handing out flyers which suited me perfectly cos only 3 hours a day (so i got a lie in and cud still do what i wanted in the evenin), paid cash (so didnt need a visa) and paid really well (NZ$50 for the 3 hours). only bad side was that ppl started avoidin eye contact with me and pretendin to get a msg jus as they went past - how convenient! lol was good though.
