We arrived at Brisbane airport in the early hours of the morning but didn't emerge from customs until about 9.30 am after quarantine declarations for the various items bought on our travels. We are absolutely wiped after only getting about 3 hours sleep each and just hope that our car, parked in a long time car park nearby for 3 months, will start. Fortunately, they have been turning it on every week, so the main challenge is fitting all our bags and guitar etc in the car.

Brisbane has greeted us with a sparkling welcome and we race to our first pre booked appointment with a local property manager to try and find a rental house for the next year! Fortunately on agent number 2 we have success and hustle to put in a rental application. Being tenants is still a little strange for us, as we have been home owners for so long...but as this is temporary we can make do with what's available.

Once that is done we stop by the boys school, meet their new teachers, get caught in a lock down terrorist drill, and then finally hit the road to Noosa, to stay in our holiday house for the weekend. The reality of seeing Halcyon after 3 months continuous holiday letting (and no visit from us) is a bit disconcerting and soon our relaxing weekend is consumed with maintenance issues and replenishing the always depleted stores of glassware and assorted items. However, despite this we find time to swim in the pool, river and beach and sit on our back deck enjoying the peace and tranquility. We look forward to living here...in 2008!

Welcome home and back to reality!
