Yesterday I was on the road for 10 hours and only made it 250 miles. This was due in part to a flickering oil light, which took about 3 hours to fix. It seems I'll have to keep refilling the oil, as it's leaking in many spots. At least it holds a lot (7 qts) so it won't empty as quickly.

The rest of the delay was from fog. Lots of it. Even though the roads in Oregon are more easily navigable than in California, thick fog slows you down anywhere.

Oregon's coast started out with nice beaches and rock formations everywhere, just like in California. The Pacific Coast Scenic Byway, as they call it in Oregon, is mostly a road through evergreens, with little pullouts where you can catch a glimpse of the coast. So it's not nearly as breathtaking as the state to the south. Unless, I guess, you've never seen trees before.

Most of the central coast is covered with huge dunes. They were a nice change of scenery from all the cliffs and rocks. Of course, once the fog rolled in, I had no idea what I was passing.

It rained a few times yesterday too. The good news is the new top doesn't leak, not even a drop. I guess it was a worthwhile investment. Especially since it's supposed to rain even more today.

Hopefully I'll get a little further today.
