Why would any sane person pass up one of the few short months of Canadian summer to spend winter in New Zealand?
True, abandoning the most civilized month of the year in Toronto (July) doesn't seem ideal on the surface: Kind of like signing myself up for a year of perpetual winter. (Bad idea).
But that's just being melodramatic. In reality, there are some things that would never occur to me to pass up because of a few degrees celsius. This includes a wedding invitation from a fabulous old friend, in a country that you've always planned on getting to "someday".
As it happens, there are lots of reasons to check out New Zealand in the off-season.
