I wanted to send out a blog today because I don't think I'll be making any weekend trips this weekend.  Apparently, yesterday was a huge music festival day in all of France!  The streets of Nancy were lined with bands ranging from rock, folk, rap, and death metal!  It was really funny to hear rapping in French!  They also had a section of the main street where some break dancers were performing impromptu style.  Place Stanislas was booming with a DJ and the entire place was a dance area!  They used two projectors to turn the facade of the Hotel de Ville into a movie screen!  The images were cleverly contrived to make the building look like it was overgrown with weeds, made of pure gold, or had candy growing on it!  It was all very interesting.  This one band had a guitarist who was crazy good.  He came up with these solos that were mind-blowing just watching his fingers scramble across the fret board.  He was so fast that he ended up using both hands to pick and finger!  Restaurants stayed open late, streets became pedestrians-only, and all kinds of people came out to enjoy from young to old.

I just wanted to report on that.  I saw them setting up when I went home at around 7 pm so I came back at around 2030 and stayed until the end, which was around 2300.  Lots of the DJs still played music and the streets were still lined with people but the crowd was considerably smaller.

I am currently trying to plan a trip to Chamonix for some outdoors exploration but it's tough to find a train to get me there in one day!  I'll keep looking.  Talk to you all later!
