My tour of the Rockies is nearly over. From jasper i crossed into BritishColumbia and into the Mount Robson provincial park. Mount Robson is the highest peak in the Rockies but unfortunately i couldn't see the top of it because of the clouds. Because i had gained an hour crossing the time zone, i decided to do a belly buster of a hike. The main trail in the park is called the Berg Lake trail and overall it is about 170 KM, so you can spend about 2 weeks up there completing it in total. Myself i went about 14 KM up and since it isn't a loop trail another 14 KM back. It took about 7 hours and i have to admit the leg were a bit wobbly at the end of it. The first point of any interest is Kinney Lake about 5 K from the Trail head. Another of these great green/turquoise lakes that would have been great at reflecting the mountains with a bit more sun. I did get a small break in the clouds that did give me a glimpse of the effect. There was also a suspension bridge across a river section of the trail and i dare anyone to get halfway across without a least think of humming the Indiana Jones theme tune. That section was easy enough, but then came the back breaker. I'm not sure was the rate of ascent was but the trail was pretty steep up into along the edge of what is called the valley of a thousand falls. Now i think this is because there are a lot of waterfalls in the valley but it could just as easily be for the amount of times that people fall up there. Probably an insider joke with the parks Canada office. The drive through the park was once again stunning if slightly different to the other parks i had being in already as this area gets more rain that the east side of the mountains making for different flora in the area. From the park i drove on to Clearwater, a crossroad of a town thats main purpose is as a place to stay the night and a base to explore the next park on my list. Wells Grey Provincial Park.
