So I have to admit that the city is growing on me, despite the crowds and crazy drunks. Made a semi-large mistake of going to the ramblas on a Friday nite--there are people selling birds and rabbits and fish, right on the street. People, mostly drunk at that, are everywhere! I don't know, I guess I'm not a typical kid because there sure were a lot of folk my age there. I figure I can get drunk in my own country, and I sleep late enough as it is! The beer though, is good, although you never know quite what you're getting. I must concur with Al here and say that the street performers are pretty poor. For those of you who've (is that a word?) been to the Met in NY--the same kind of thing. Not much talent abounding. But amusing. My personal favorite was the lady sitting on a street corner banging together two plastic containers filled with stones. It's kind of music, but you have to be in \168that \168mood. Took a bus trip to Monsterrat this morning, which was really cool. Mountains of limestone roughly 4ooo feet high. Took a fernicula (sp?) aka a tram car that goes straight up the side of the mountain. Neato! Lots of nuns--they're not called monks. It's a monastary. Which, was beautiful. Gilded to the hilt! HA so my idiot thing of the week was getting on this tour bus (you know, the ones you're supposed to avoid) and riding around for 3 hours wondering why they weren't stopping at any of the sites. Yes well, after I got off I found out that you can press this button which means stop, and get off anywhere you want and get back on to any other bus that comes by later. This way you can actually SEE the sites. Ah well, can always give that another go. Some things just slip right by me. Tonight I have tickets to the ballet--Romeo and Juliet. On a side note it's no wonder people are not fond of Americans. I think I've met more Americans here than I have Barcelonians. And everything's in English, which is comforting at first, but annoying now. But, I guess that's the city for ya! Allright, well, off to get a shower--which, I have to say for the record is a really great shower. Love that thing. Hasta pronto....
