We eventually - through a couple of trains - made it to our destination town called Vernazza in a place known as Cinque Terre in the Italian Riviera. I had been here last year, but thought Vasa would like to check out the scene and do the famous hike through all 5 towns.
Our lodgings were a bit on the outskirts of this 1-street town, so it was still pretty close. Decent hotel-ish place, except that somehow our sink - yes, our sink - was missing after day 1. I guess they make sinks that plug into pipes!!! with the ability to disappear in this end of the world. Whatever though. Still good enough place.
On to the walk - my lord, it was hot. Ever try walking a mountain in the sun? Probably not. Take it from us, its hot. I did the walk last year without much problem, this year though, we only could get through 3/4 of it before we had enough. We´re talking 4 hours or so of tough walk in the sun here.. That deserves some respect.
The towns were really quiet. Monterosso was pretty busy because it had a big beach, but when it came time to watch the Italy semifinal game, we were only able to watch half in Monterosso before catching our train back to Vernazza... only to realize that there were no televisions showing the game in Vernazza. Thats how small it is.. Anyhow, Italy won.
On to the next place..
