We stayed at La Spiaggia for two nights in July and it was a wonderful place to stay. The hotel was charming and we were treated very well. We had a huge room, with a balcony, on the third floor, overlooking the beach. We enjoyed the sounds of the ocean and watched the sun rise each morning.
The location could not have been better. A short walk from the hotel is the free, private beach complete with chairs & umbrellas (something you have to pay for in Nice). True, there are no towels, but they are sold cheep right on the beach and we now have a souvenir of our trip. It is about a 10 minute walk to the charming Old Town that has lots of good restaurants.
The double room we had was basic but huge. Two big beds and two bunk beds. We could have slept three more people comfortably in our room. It was clean and comfortable and even had a hairdryer.
If it is nightlife you are looking for, there isn't much in town, but we happened to stay on a Saturday night when a beach party was being thrown by the city right across the street. We were warned about the noise ahead of time, and it didn't bother us at all, but I can see that a big event like that right outside your window could be a problem for some people. But we loved it, and had a great time! It was one of the highlights of our trip.
Mr. Poggi was charming and since we arrived a little early, he offered us a complimentary glass of wine while our room was being prepared. He was so helpful with tourist information, provided a map, recommended good restaurants, and was very knowledgeable about Cinque Terra and the hike through all the villages.
If it is a high-class "beach resort" you are looking for, this may not be the place for you. But if you want a charming, warm & friendly hotel right on the beach with a breathtaking view in one of the most beautiful places in the world, this is it! We will definitely stay here again if we are lucky enough to be in Cinque Terra in the future. We loved it here.
