Review of The Turf Club

The Turf Club has some advantages and some disadvantages. I guess it depends what you are looking for.

Overall it was pleasant and facilitated what we needed for the day -- I am not sure I would do it again.

Advantages: We were with an older person who has trouble with steps and two young kids. There were no steps in the restaurant (some of the restaurants had teired seating) and there were bathrooms right in the dining room so we did not have to go anywhere.

The room was accesible by elevator -- no climbing stairs. That was good.

You could enjoy views of both the paddock and the track -- you were free to get up and move to windows on both sides of the room.

Agents were available to take bets in the room.

The buffet was convenient -- no lines waiting for food. And you could eat when you wanted to -- in between races and such. Not necessarily kid friendly food -- but at least we had choices.

Table for the day: your reservation is for the entire day -- so we could just leave everything there -- we had a home base.

Disadvantages:

Way too much money for what you got.

The Buffet food was just there. It was okay -- but nothing great -- no fancy presentation or anything. For the money they could have done more. There were choices but not as many as you would think. Everything was a main course -- no sides to speak of.

You were sort of trapped in the room -- it was easy to go see the other things (although when you left for awhile you could leave everything there). The kids wanted to go see the horses up close and do the other activities and they were far away. We missed 3-4 races in the middle of the day -- while we tried out everything else.

Net/Net -- it served a purpose for us today -- but no big recco from us!
