On our first full day, we all went to a park outside of México City called Las Prismas. This park is a valley which had very unusual rock formations which looked similar to crystals. We toured that area, and then later had a picnic and played touch football. The old people played against the young people. The old people won!! The teenagers blamed their loss on communication problems since all the adults could speak Spanish but not all the teenagers could speak Spanish.
From here we went to a nearby lake and rented rowboats, wore too-small life jackets, and just paddled around and splashed each other. Joel dropped the oar in the water once and we rowed in circles for a while until one of the kids rescued it for us.
On the way back to the city we stopped at a very nice restaurant for a buffet dinner. We had trout and beans and rice, flan, and margaritas. When you order margaritas in México they ask what kind of tequila you want and then list off about 12 options. I don't know so I just went with traditional.
It turned out to be a warm sunny day even though it was the rainy season and we had a great time. I got very sunburned on top of my head and arms and peeled for 2 weeks.
