Had the worst bus journey yet...ok so prob nothing compared to the forthcoming delights of Bolivia but no aircon and 3 nasty sandwiches is just not what we are use to darhling!
Got to Mendoza lovely place a world away from BA, still missing the place! Stayed in a hostel near Plaza Independencia, Winca´s, great place had pool and free weights upon which Owen insisted we did some ´reps´yeah ok skinny for a reason Í don´t do weights scott..´
Anyways so first day recovered from the bus trip by the pool then we enjoyed the delights of Carrefour! We are now becoming insistent on cooking to keep our costs down after BA and Rio...so we went out for dinner lol...we had the hostel BBQ standard!never seen so much steak and it just kept coming! After teaching a Ozzie to drink...hadn't a clue about the rules of matchbox...would get slaughtered at a standard UPHC drinking session...so no holds barred he got the banter and many a time suffered via the acceptance rule!
Got the standard 2hrs sleep and then we missioned it onto the 172 bus to do a days wine tasting at Bikes and wines. Went to a great little Liquor shop/factory some great liquors. Owen was alerted to the name cognac on the menu so had to try to see if it was living upto the French name...not quite but a $2 a bottle he dídn´t complain!
After we returned we found out that someone had pissed on Owen´s jeans...not great some bumbling 45 year old guy apparently came in smashed and didn´t make it to the loo evidently...not good!
After much cycling on the world...saddle was like a rock, we went and had a lovely lunch at a gourmet restaurant(part of the tour) great food but slightly on the long side which subsequently meant we were very pushed to make the next wineries. Eventually we managed to squeeze in 2 just before the end and our final one was great. We sat on the terrace surrounding by vineyards drinking big glasses of red trying desperately not to remember the fact we had to cycle back!
Later that night we got a lift with the guy from ´bikesandwines´to his mates party 20km outside of Mendoza it was quiet but great place. Amazing decor apparently in the day its a art gallery and restaurant.
Got up today with an invasion of Israeli´s into our dorm, booked a bus out to Salta to make Bolivia in time so I can get to Cusco. Sadly the weather is horrible today in the words of Soccer ÁM ´Light Drizzle´. So sadly last min pic of Plaza Independencia etc are not looking likely. Decided against rafting thankfully going to try that and skydiving in Bolivia...might be dodgier...fingers crossed i hope!
Also got invited to a telephone interview for UCSD...great news but gonna be hard to sort out in Bolivia!

Great to hear you survived the bus but a little concerned that your "life changing" experiences seem to be all along lines of wine/beer & food - No big social issues here !-where`s the "real" S.A? Or perhaps the food & wine are easier to describe!! Hope Bolivia isn`t to much of a shocker & take care with the sky diving- extreme sports etc- they do have parachutes don`t they?? The interview sounds a brilliant chance so find that phone at all costs!! If nothing else it will give you authentic back up to your personal statement blagging if you get cut off by a bad line! We will try & txt/phone but don`t hold out much hope. Keep well- have you used any of your mozzy sprays & malaria tabs? Did you pack well or take a load of useless stuff?? Much love - its mothers day today so thinking of you lots- Madrexx
