Hammock

Just as my 25 lb cat "Lolo" likes to lounge around a bit too much, so too does Scott ... especially in a hammock in a foreign land (preferably closer to the equator than Edmonton is).

If you know me, you know that I have very little control over my travelling addiction :) Since I was a young lad, I've loved all things travel related: love geography, languages, foreign cuisine...heck, I even love aircraft for their ability to mercifully lift me out of Edmonton's frigid cold in February!

Current travel plans are always in flux, partly due to civil wars in my chosen countries, partly due to my famous indecision. But, the rough idea looks a little something like this: Escape Edmonton via San Francisco, arrive Singapore 19 hours later, have a nourishing food court meal and 5 hour nap in the airport, lv for Colombo, Sri Lanka, avoid terrorist attacks in the train/bus stations, and find a comfy beach hammock in the Hikkaduwa area (South West coast). Once hammock is secured, Ipod, beer, Castaneda book, and Magnum ice cream should ensure a successful 1st night in paradise. What's all this I hear about jet lag? Not in my world...

Not planning to do too much really. Might venture out for some surfin', snorkelin', eatin', bikin', hikin' etc...but it's basically all about the lounging to be honest...oh yeah, might head off to South and East Africa for 4 months as well :) Really want to try my new mosquito net out in the high malaria risk, post rainy season in Malawi...and climb Mt. Mulanje and Kili (and maybe Mt. Meru or even Mt. Kenya if time permits, and the Kenyan violence subsides by June), and trek the Drakensberg escarpment in South Africa. I hear there's some nice beaches (with the obligatory hammocks) in Mozambique and Zanzibar, so we'll have to check that out too now won't we...
