Portrait

I love to travel. If I had to pick a favorite hobby--that would be it. Thus far, I have travelled to much of Western Europe (England, France, Spain, Amsterdam, Italy, Germany, and Austria), the Bahamas (Nassau Island), West Africa (Senegal and the Gambia), and around all of the continental United States as well as Hawaii. I am a student at the University of Michigan studying for a bachelor's degree in Anthropology/Archaeology with a minor in British History. I hope to become a university level professor after getting my PhD and Masters. Among travelling, my other favorite hobbies include reading, singing in choir, meeting new people, and going to museums, etc.

From January 3rd to June 29th, I will be studying at the University of Sussex in Brighton, England. I have created this blog so that my friends and family can read all about my adventures abroad!

Brighton/Hove Coach Tour
"The tour was very informative and you get to see beatiful views of the South Downs and the Channel. A great way to see all of Brighton/Hove and the surrounding area without having to spend a lot or walk a lot! Gives you great ideas for things to do as well."

Indian Cuisine
"Bad! We got totally ripped off. Rice does not come with any meal (how can you eat curry without rice?!). Everything was enormously over-priced. Waiters were pushy, and one waiter even lied to us about a special offer that was going on. We got stuck in the upstairs part where there is absolutely NO ambience whatsoever. My best advice is to find a Thai or Chinese buffet for 3 pounds and chow down!"

Tower of London
"I love the Tower of London if only for the beautiful view of an historic area and the nearby London Bridge. Seeing the crown jewels is always a good time as well. However, ALWAYS get a yeoman to give you a tour! Otherwise, you are just left wandering around not really knowing what any of the buildings or the historic grounds really meant. It can even get boring! It's still worthwhile, though, to see it!"

10 Manchester Street
"The place was small (boutique-style) but comfortable. It had all the necessities (TV, beds, nice bathroom, and breakfast included). Not cheap, however. 95 pounds (190 dollars) for one night for a twin (2 twin beds). Location is near the big shopping area, which is nice."

Buckingham Palace
"It's always cool to see this ornate and historic building. I always wonder to myself when I see it about what exactly the Queen is doing in there. It's also nice when it's a beautiful day out because there is a promenade and a beautiful park next to the Palace. It's also fun to see the guards outside of the building 'doin' their thing.' Worth a look!"

"Really good Indie-Rock music on Tuesdays and Electronica on Thursdays. I had a great time dancing here, and you CAN get cheap drinks, if you work hard at it. However, don't come here before 11:30pm because the place is DEAD."

The Pavilion Tavern
"I had an amazing time dancing here, but the music is only good if you're already drunk. Drinks are as cheap or as expensive as anywhere else. It's an option, if you need it, but you can find better."
