So it's been over three months we've been here now, the weather has turned seriously cold and the enjoyment of having a job and fixed abode is starting to wear off - for me at least, i don't think ben enjoyed it for a second

all though one good thing about having a proper house is that we can have house parties!!! the first chunk of the photos with this entry are from our housewarming party - which most people seemed to spend on the balcolny making us slightly worried it would collapse under the strain!

so far i have failed to save any money whatsoever (big suprise!) and while a fair amount of what we earn goes on rent and bills it's fair to say that the majoirty seems to be spent on eating out and partying

we both just had our birthdays which was an excuse to spend lots of money buying each other winter clothes and blankets (i'm really not kidding, it's soooo cold!) and cookbooks! ben bought me one just about Pork!

and he took me to the most fabulous greek restaurant where i ate oysters for the first time ever (after an attempt age 12 in france, i squeezed lemon juice on it and it moved, mum explained that it was shrinking away from the shell as i was killing it with the juice - funnily enough that has put me off them for the last 16 years!) which were yummy - kilpatrick style which is warm with worchester sauce and bacon, tasted like fabulous mussels with no chewy bits

and then for main course we had suckling pig which had been roasted for 15hours and was without doubt the most delicious meat i have ever tasted - i've been trying to think of an excuse to go back there since!

for ben's birthday i cooked him mashed potato and paxo sage and onion stuffing with onion gravy! and spent weeks organising a suprise fishing trip which i finally told him about the evening beofre we were going, then i got a text at 5am on the day to say it was cancelled due to bad weather!

we'll try again in september when the weather's improved

my housemate heather's birthday was the 25th May so we had a joint birthday party at a place called Spleen Central during which i had a small fracas with the owner who refused to let us have the whole upstairs to ourselves - heather stepped in to smooth things over and I was bribed away with a glass of champagne

ben's birthday was a somewhat quieter affair as he decided what he really wanted to do was have a day off work and stay in bed watching films all day! Fun, lazy and cheap!

But now we have no more valid excuses to spend money it's back to saving! Ahh what fun!
