(Nicks story).  Marakesh was a good way to slowly start the integration back in to the 'real world'.  We took a train from Casablanca and three hours later we were there.  Not knowing where we were we took a taxi in to the Medina area and booked into a nice Riad.  On the way the taxi driver did point out all the sites including hotels at 1000 dollars a night.  It is actually an expensive place.

On the first day we met a lovely person called Alison who was finishing her Morocco trip and very kindly gave us her Lonely Planet Morocco.  With this new detailed book we confidently walked out in to the square........and were lost within 5 minutes.  We did make it back to our Riad two hours later having seen much more than we intended.  It is actually almost impossible not to get lost if you really explore.

The book said that you could get herbal remedies for anything around the square including......hair loss and herbal viagra.  I think that the man may have put them in to the wrong bag because the only change that I have noticed is that my hair sticks up!

The highlight of Marakesh is the ' Big Square' that is busy during the day but comes alive at night.  There are food stall, juice bars, street entertainers and very good salespeople.  The food was excellent and people watching was first rate.  We had forgotten what it was like to be relaxed in the evening and being able to watch the world go by.  But, the downside is that it does get a bit tiring to be constantly asked to look at the menu or to sit here etc.  'No thank you' almost isn't enough.

Two days is enough to walk and see the things that you want to see (and it was hot) and we soon were back on the bus to Essouaria.
