That makes me want to note that a lot of the landscapes I’ve seen in NZ is similar to that in Scotland only bigger and hence more dramatic. We finally came upon a lovely little campsite by the waters edge and have had a good meal and some nice hot showers – off to bed ;-)

Jeez – December already – I’ve almost forgotten what it’s like to work – I think I’ll actually be glad to start work again when the time comes (8th Jan has been the date set – I decided to join HP and I’m really excited to be working for an innovative and respected company). Anyway – today we drove around the Marlborough Sounds a bit (well as far as we could push the large and ungainly campervan on some of the twistiest and topsy-turvy roads I’ve ever driven). The little bays and coves around this neck of the South Island are relatively inaccessible (due to the slow drive – took us about 40 mins to drive 20km) but that keeps it a bit peaceful I guess – it was very quiet and tranquil when we stopped and explored. We then drove into Picton – the ferry port on the South Island and parked in a top notch camping park – the kids loved it (heated swimming pool, games, playground and… other kids! – although their first interaction was a fight with two French boys but they later settled their differences and also joined up with some Kiwis and Chinese/Americans so they were glad to be doing kids stuff again and not boring driving!.
