The first time we got to Manly we did what was supposed to be a 3 hour, 9km walk, on the Manly Scenic Walkway, Nath had only just got his new camera and there was loads to shoot, so we only managed 7km in 6 hours! Beautiful scenary. The massive orb spiders are worth the trip alone. They make huge webs and from a distance it looks like they're just floating in the air. There's a trail of death caught up in a thin spiral in the web, and the spider just leaves it there. Messy little git. I'm not sure if they're poisonous but we got pretty dam close to them for photos!
The second time was amazing, and very lucky I'm told. We both surfed for the first time, and both caught at least 3 waves each. Very tiring sport but worth every bit of effort! I've got the bug. Anyway... We were sat waiting for the next wave when a school of fish came jumping and splashing out of the wave, very nice you're thinking, but they were followed by about 6 dark shadows, oh shit! Before I even had time to think shark and panic, about 4 dolphins came hurtling out of the wave and dove back under about 2m from my dangling legs, and they did it twice - frickin awesome! What a day. Back there to surf again as soon as the rain stops. It's been a torrential downpour here for the last two days! When it rains here, it bloody rains!
It is now 7 days from the last time I wrote, the rain has only just stopped, it's been tremendous, we sprung 2 leaks in our roof last night so I've got to sort that out this morning, but tomorrow - SURFING!
Caught an NRL game a few nights ago at Brookvale Oval (Manly's home ground). We went there to support Manly Warringah Sea Eagles v Canterbury Bulldogs. Our team get trounced 8-27, and ended a ten game unbeaten run at 'Fortress Brookie', to leave them second in the table. I thought there'd be more people at the game, the attendance was _____. Not all bad though, we met a couple of Aussies on the ferry over there, who invited us up to their box for the second half. Free booze and food, suffice to say we went home very drunk that night after going back to The Rocks in Sydney and clubbing all night.
