La noche en blanco is a huge festival with music and art exhibits set up all over the city and all entries to museums are free. It lasts only one night from 9pm until 7am. It's been all through the main capitols; before Madrid it was in Paris. Alix was visiting this weekend, as well as one of Jess' friend so we had such a great time catching up as well as exploring this festival. We met up in Sol and weaved our way through crowds (it felt like Disneyland) to see some of the exhibits. It was so crowded it was hard to see much, but there was music everywhere. It started raining, no make that pouring, which sort of dampened (excuse the pun) the mood. We used cardboard boxes we found on the street as umbrellas because we were definitely not dressed for the weather.  We took refuge in a warm, packed with people bar.  We ended up just staying around the Sol area, going from bar to bar and people watching.  We never really made it to much of the art because of the rain. It did let up though, but by then we were too tired to walk much farther.  After a stop at Burger King at 4am we ended up all sleeping in Alix's hostel (which was basically an apartment).  We woke up at 9 and Jess and I took the metro home. Quite an eventful night, and I'm exhausted!
