Nothing Much in Madrid

We arrived in Madrid after another sleepless bus ride to find our hostel wasn't ready for us, so we went to find some breakfast.  This wasn't easy as the Spaniards take it easy with their businesses, opening at 11am and having a 3 hour lunch break.  We eventually found a bar serving coffee and churros which was a great find as churros are really nice donutty things.  Then we went onto information, who are really really helpful in Spain and then to an overpriced, unfriendly internet place to kill time before we could have a nap in our hostel room.  For dinner we found an all you can eat place and we filled up on pizza, pasta, salad and chocolate soft serve.

Next day we split up, cameron going to see Spain through walking through the streets and Alice, James and I headed to the Prada Museum to see the likes of Goya, Rembrandt, Renoir and Titian.  However that morning at breakfast, while sipping our coffees, three boys had run in creating havoc by pulling at us and scattering newspaper around.  They quickly ran out again and James took off after them as they'd taken his wallet!  The owner of the cafe was quicker though and got the wallet back, but it was a close call!  We also managed to find a small gallry that had a Gustav Klimt exhibition which was really wonderful to see.  then Alice and I decided to taste the local delicacies and made ourselves sick on hot chocolate (chocolate melted into milk with condensed milk in it and whipped cream on top) and filled churros (coated in chocolate and filled with custard).  Then we met Cameron and went to a really cool restaurant for dinner to have noodles in squid ink and wild mushroom risotto.

Next day we managed to catch a bit of a parade going through with the King and Queen in it, as it was a big public holiday, and then we headed out of the city on a bus bound for Granada.
