After a nice late sleep-in we went upstairs to have breakfast in the "Stunning View Lounge." Just continental with fruit but they had takeaway Starbucks that was tasty.
Shopped a bit more - San Francisco on a Saturday morning was lively. I bought a couple of shirts as did Bobby.
We walked around Union Square a bit more enjoying the very nice weather, which was sunny, a bit breezy a bit cool. Lots of tourists milling about but who could blame them. I won't explain why the underwear sitting on the street corner was so funny but darned if it wasn't!
Back up to the room to pack up our shite and take off for SFO. BART to the airport is quite convenient and certainly cheaper than a taxi. We never take taxis unless there's no other choice.
After we checked in we managed to get onto the international concourse (technically not allowed since our first flight was SFO-LAX), then presented ourselves at the first class lounge. A bit of attitude from the door ladies but we were let in. Very nice lounge - we had the place to ourselves since the Asian flights had gone and the next ones (London, Frankfurt) weren't until 7 p.m. or so.
Nice food and an open bar - a good way to pass a few hours. I even got to see an EVA Air 747 arrive from Taipei right outside the window. Very interesting (to this airplane geek) to see fuel/cargo/food being loaded.
Down to LAX was uneventful - too hazy to see much coastal scenery, unfortunately.
The LAX F lounge was not quite as nice but the receptionist, Kim, is fun to talk to. She has lots of stories about celebrities and told us that Leonardo DiCaprio was expected later (flying to JFK on a ps redeye). And darned if he didn't show up - purple tracksuit, baseball cap and a huge, black backpack. He was a lot taller/bigger than I expected but a celeb sighting is always fun. Bobby didn't talk to him (untrue to form).
Kim escorted us to our aircraft, which was fun and made me feel like a VIP - no lines for us.
