From the airport, we caught ‘the tube’ to our accommodation in Bayswater. We checked in at the Royal (?) Bayswater Hostel but it wasn’t long before we were exploring Hyde Park, Kensington Palace and Harrod’s on foot. That was after Kev had his first beer- warm as expected and ice had to be added!! During our walk we saw the real London weather in force. From sunny, no clouds to black clouds and rain haha! In our travels we’ve never seen so many Ferrari’s, Lamborghini’s and Masserati’s within such a small area. The old English buildings and especially Harrod’s was amazing- so old and well preserved. We caught a few of the red busses and returned back to the hostel. The flights were starting to take their toll so it was a quick dinner and off to bed.
Surprisingly, we both had such a good nights sleep, even in a room with 12 others. Brekky was very average- we really missed our veggie on toast! Then it was off on another adventure. We caught more of those fabulous red buses through Oxford Circus, Piccadilly Circus and got off at Trafalgar Square. The sights really are amazing. We floated around until 10am when our walking tour began (free…we love that!). This took us along The Mall and to see the changing of the Guards. We both found it interesting finding out facts about the Royals and hence more about our heritage. The ceremony itself was so impressive- totally over the top but a must see. We then branched off on our own and did more walks to Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, 10 Downing Street and then back to Oxford Street to get our bank accounts etc organized. That night we went to Shepherds Bush to the ‘Walkabout Inn’ for a drink then a good old-fashioned kebab. Once again we both hit a wall early on and were looking forward to bed. What the next day had in store we had no idea as we had no accommodation organized or anything haha- Jules is still getting used to the ‘go with the flow’ idea. She’ll be write mate!!!!
