I have just had the best couple of days skiing in the French Alps at a resort called Les gets about one hours drive from Geneva (Switzerland) and absolutely beautiful!! It's the first time I have skiied in Europe and I was blown away by the ENORMITY of the Alps they are huge!!! Too big to describe and about 500 times bigger than any Australian ski resort - as we flew into Geneva I took some photo's from the plane of the tops of the mountains poking out of the top of the clouds and this was at about 10,000 meters!!!!aug

Jeff and I arrived on Tuesday afternoon and met Jade and Vaugny at their chalet. They are working as chalet hosts - which mean they each have a chalet with a couple of english families and they have to act as hosts, cook the food, clean the chalet, sit down for dinner with the families and provide conversation etc so they both have about 5 hours during the day when they can go out for a ski...very hard life! Thinking I might have to go and do it with them next year - it's so beautiful set high up in the french mountains and a gorgeous resort with swiss style chalets yet everything is french...so much bread cheese and chocolate!!

All the resorts are connected and you can ski from one to the other through the mountains. On Friday afetr we had sort of got our ski legs back (well the other three were snowboarding I was the only skier!) we skiied over to Morzine resort and then through to Avoriaz resort which is on the boarder of Switzerland. So I think we may have even skiied over to Switzerland at one point! The runs are soooo long (well compared to Australia where you are at the bottom in a couple of seconds) it took a good 5 - 10 mins to reach the bottom of most runs!

On our way back from Avoriaz we had to catch a gondola back up the mountain...and while Jeff was admiring the view out of the corner of his eye he noticed something falling from the gondola...yep it was jades snowboard!! Thankgod it didn't hit anyone skiing below...and someone rescued it and put it on another gondala. We thought everythning was fine until Jade realised one of her bindings had snapped off...so we improvised with straps to hold the board on and she was fine!!!

So thinking of going back at the end of March after I finish my contract with easyjet - it is very addictive and so much fun can't wait to get back there :)
