hola de Leon, Nicaragua we have been out of commission for a while because we just spent 7 days on the corn islands on the carribean coast of nicargua very nice so starting back in costa rica we said bye to my mom and dad and sent them on the way in the rental car back to san jose we made our way to jaco to meet up with finny and a few of his surf buds who were in costa rica for about 5 day surf trip

i use the term 'surf trip'very loosely because there was not too much actual surfing involved it is mostly talking about surfing or chicks or trying to fix cars...by the time the cars are going and boards are in, it is time for lunch and more talk of surfing...etc

so we tagged along with them for a few days from jaco up to tamarindo (thanks for the ride guys) so we could see dan finn in 'vacation finny' mode which is way better than 'working finny'. This Finny actually scores chicks!!!!

after they left, we headed back up to nicargua and back to san juan del sur for movie nights at recardos

they have a cool setup with a projection of a movie on a sheet so you can watch it from the outside on the beach in loiunge chairs...watched 'the beach'and ok movie the second time you see it

leonardo decaprio is just dreamy(that's jer talking, sarah disagrees) next morning we had our last breakfast burrito at mama nachoes...mmm... so next day we headed to isla de ometepe, 2 volcanos in the lake of nicargua a cool place where we stayed a few nights, went horse back riding to some rock carvings and louinged around a bit. The guy that gave us the tour of the rock carvings was a little off in his calculations as to when the indigounos people made the carvings. He said that they were 4000 years old, later we read that they were 3000 years old and not by the Mayans as he had stated. However, by looking at they Jer and I both agreed that they were about 8 years old...just a trick to get people to the isla.

next we headded up to granada which was a very nice colonial city..stayed at the bearded monkey in 'the suite' which was pretty nice for $16...all the other backpackers were jealous of us

we took the tour of the sights as mentioned in the lonely planet and had a breakfast burrito at another mama nachos...mmm ...but not as good as the one in san juan del sur

a couple days later, we flew from managua to the corn islands for 6 nights in the carribean sun...oh blessed

the islands were very beautiful but a little difficult to visit because they are not too set up for tourism yet

the first 2 nights were on little corn island at derrick huts...literaly that, palm tree huts on the sand...sand floor and no electricity or running water...cook dinner over the fire cause the restuauant is about 45 min walk to the other side of the island

so very nice but a little difficult we spent those days louinging in hammocks, fishing, snorkeling, and of course breaking open coconuts next 2 nights were a nice place on big corn for our 1 year anniversary...one year boom done after a super storm, we headed to the other side of big corn to another place for a couple nights...where we went snorkeling and created our own swim up bar and of course, broke open some coconuts

today we flew back to managua and took a mini bus to leon another colonial city which actually translates to shit hole city...sorry mom

which we will flee from tomorrow that is all ps beers here in nicargua are about 66 cents to a dollar in the nicer places incase you were wondering

beers in costa rica tended to be 1.25 to 1.50 each...nicargua wins
