Kim and I meet up at the Las Vegas airport, get our luggage, and get in line for a cab - the first of many lines we will stand in this Labor Day weekend. We arrive at THEhotel at Mandalay Bay and wait to check-in. Luckily our room is ready and we head upstairs to get suited up for an afternoon at the pool. I picked THEhotel, because the 11-acre pool area at Mandalay Bay is one of the best in Vegas. If we were going to try to fake Cabo, the wave pool and sandy beach is the closest we’ll come. We arrive about 1PM and there isn’t a free lounge chair, let alone two, anywhere within the pool complex. We lay our hotel room towels on the concrete and immediately get in the water since it is 103 degrees. Soon we commandeer an abandoned blue raft and take turns floating around the pool. Kim has to swim down the cocktail waitress to get our much anticipated frosty drinks.

For dinner we enjoy coconut shrimp and seared scallop appetizers and rum punch at Rumjungle. It’s early and the place isn’t jumping just yet, but it looks like a fun place to come back later for drinks and dancing.

We have 7:30 tickets to Zumanity, the ‘naked’ cirque de soleil. It was a fun, bawdy, sexy, perfectly-suited-to-Las Vegas show.
