Finally after a few extra days of waiting with baited breath we hitched the caravan up for the last time and drove to Britways Car just outside of Lannion to pick it up.
We have been dealing with the owner, Jean-Paul Abalain, since we signed on the dotted line at the exposition in Saint Brieuc. We found him, Jose and Laurent very helpful and understanding, especially of our extremely limited French! Luckily Jean-Pauls English is pretty good so we made him practice it ;-)
The new toy is a 2007 Model Adria 660SP. Its a ‘capucine’ (it has a double bed over the drivers seat) and is 7.3m long (plus the bike rack on the back). It’s a big bugger!
It comes with shower, toilet, gas heating, oven and gas hob and we have added reverse cycle airconditioning a solar panel and satellite TV. It has a double bed at the back and underneath is a big garage for all our ‘stuff’ – needless to say the garage is completely full!
After a few initial niggles the only real complaint we have is that the reversing radar doesn’t work with the bike rack on the back. Jean-Paul tried his best to fix the problem but we are disappointed that Adria wouldn’t do anything for us. We will continue that battle another day…
The gas heating and shower are excellent, as is the increased living space… oh and we can get English channels on the satellite – sweet! Things to be upgraded are the size of the water tank – 90 litres = about a day and a half for the four of us.
We spent a few more days at West Camping building some storage into the garage and then we were away!
