So.. this entry will be slightly all over the place.. because our trip was.. slightly all over the place.  As I mentioned in the last blog, we finished up in Taman Negara and were hoping to meet Carole in the islands in the north east of Malaysia... but Carole texted us and let us know that it had rained the whole time she had been there.  We checked online and the weather forecast was thunder showers for the next 10 days.  yikes.  This meant a big change of plans.  We really wanted to head over the boarder by boat because we had been told this and flying are the best ways.  So.. we decided to head back the Kuala Lumpur.

It is great going back to a place you have already visited because all the initial pains of learning your way around have already happened.  We stayed in the same hotel and did a little extra sight seeing that we had missed last time.  We ate dinner in little India which was good.  Krystal and I cannot get enough chicken tandoori. We also went to the giant Kuala Lumpur Tower (yes, this is a different one).  The sun set while we were up there which provided amazing views of the city as well as of the other twin towers.

From Kuala Lumpur we bought a bus to the north west of Malaysia where we could take a boat to Langkawi.  The trip was supposed to take us 7 hours.. but the bus stopped for over an hour in the middle of nowhere (no idea why) and the whole trip ended up taking more than 9 hours.  The whole bus tickets thing in Malaysia is a thing to itself.  There are hundreds of people inside and outside the station screaming at you.. trying to get you to buy their tickets.  At the end of the day.. most of them are on the same bus anyways.. So we made north to Kuala Perlis and had to run to make the last ferry because we were late.  The ferry was old.. but they played the first hour of Robocop on the way over.. Weird?  Yes.  I am not sure if you remember but that movie is pretty hardcore to be showing to everyone on the ferry.

The boat took about an hour to get across and then we took a taxi to the beach-ier part of the island.  We had a lot of trouble finding a place because it was dark.  We looked at bunch of really bad places before find an over priced decent place.  Langkawi is the duty free island of Malaysia which means that beer is dirt cheap.. but everything else is way overpriced.

We spend the next two days lounging on the beach and soaking in the sun.  There are lots of activities on the island.. but because so many tourists visit hear.. most of them were way to expensive.  We were happy swimming in the ocean and sneaking into a fancy resort to use the pool :)  Krystal got a massage and I did.. nothing.  Its nice to slow down once in awhile.   One night we enjoyed super cheap beers at a beach bar and watch the sun go down over the ocean.. welcome to paradise.

We next move further north to Thailand and more beaches.  My skin looks like leather.
