After surviving our first night in the van, we headed into the Southern Alps. Breathtaking and stunning only begin to describe how beautiful it is here. The mountains are amazing and the lakes are so blue it looks like some has dropped bright blue paint in them. As we drove towards Mt Cook, we started to think about taiking a scenic flight around Mt. Cook. Now, i don't like small planes but I managed to get into a very small cessna and we spent 45 mintues circling the glaciers and the very large Mt. Cook. I have to say it was incredible but I did have to plaster a smile to my face and apparently I spent most of the flight looking very pale. I have to say I was glad when my feet touhed the ground. It was worth it as those pictures will stay imprinted on my mind forever!

After a short walk around the park at the bottom of the mountain we headed off to our next destination, Te ANAU. We had slightly under-estimated the distance and had to stop en-route for the night!
