Lake St Clair

Lake St Clair is the opposite end of the Overland Track that starts at Cradle Mountain. It’s Australia’s deepest lake (167m). Our main activity was bushwalking. We saw several tiger snakes, which just happen to be the most deadly snake on earth! One tiger snake in front of us kept blocking our way by following the eroded and sunken track. It eventually scurried off into the bush and avoided us doing a some major backtracking. M impressed us all by doing a 5.5 hour walk which was very steep in places and led to Shadow Lake. A and I had a skinny dip. We saw 2 Echidna’s (spiny anteaters) on the walk and our campsite was visited by wallabies at dusk.

A’s favourite toy is Elly (sofy elephany toy). M’s is Monka (soft monkey toy). They have collected many monkeys and elephants over time and now have an entire colony each with its own profile of relationships, favourite foods, sexual orientation, etc… Its nice to observe their imaginative play and it occupies them on long car journeys. I have my own monkey called Bobby, who rides in the front of the car on the dashboard with me.
