From Lisbon we traveled by bus to Lagos. The trip was about 3 hours or so, but not too bad. We stayed in a little "hostel" that had a few different parts to it that used to be homes and are spread out around the town. Myself and one of the girls I was with, Katie, stayed in our own private room in a small house. The other girls had two bedrooms in another house about 15 minutes away.
The weather in Lagos was great. We were able to shop and hang out in the city. Most of the roads were small and stone or brick, you could walk through most of it in an hour or so. Definitely a lot smaller than Lisbon. And the beach was beautiful. We decided to purchase a day trip by kayak that took us along the Atlantic Ocean coast. We went into small caves and through rock formations. Had a sack lunch on a private beach only accessable by water. It was beautiful, so much fun! The water was clear and you could sometimes see fish under you too. The highlight of my trip!
At night we went to a small restaurant for steak and potatoes. The staff there was very friendly and funny. It is a city full of people from all over. Most said they came for vacation and never left since they loved it so much. Everyone knew everyone else. After dinner we went to the local bar and a few of the girls made good friends with the bartender and staff... needless to say, we didn't spend much money on drinks. It was fun though.
Lagos is a great city and I really enjoyed it, although unlike some of the people there, I could not just simply stay after vacation.
