Flo says:
Following a hot tip from British divemaster Jess we
moved on to our next adventure with Omega Tours based
on the mainland an hours drive up river into the
jungle for a night in candle lit cabins (basically
just four walls of mosquito netting on stilts). This
German run place even had swimming pool to lessen the
blow of leaving the sea behind. However, the main
attraction was the whitewater rafting tours offered
which rank pretty highly in the adrenaline stakes,
including as they do class V rapids and even greater
leaps off rocks, which dwarfed Alton’s pontoon, into
the river below.
Emma likes to be daring:
We relaxed in Utila for a few days and then decided we had had it easy for too long and that we needed a little bit of excitement. We had been told about a white water rafting place in la Ceiba near by so we headed back and went up into the jungle. The rafting was amazing. The rapids were big and we were told there was a fair chance that the boat could be capsized and we could be sucked under the water and held down on rocks (wicked). We both loved it, our guides were really professional and it felt as safe as it possibly could be. I think both Flo and I were disappointed by not capsizing as we decided to risk life a limb throwing ourselves off a 8 meter high rock (called the nose) into the swirling rapids bellow. It was all extreme adrenalin pumping fun. As riding waterfalls in a dingy and jumping off rocks did not injure or endanger our lives enough we went in search of greater thrills. We decided to go a find the biggest waterfall in Honduras (la cascadas, 80m, I will try and attach a photo). and walk through it with 1000 tons of water falling on our heads and chest deep in rapidly flowing water trying to knock us over the precipice to plunge to our deaths.Compare Prices
