Review of Toyoko Inn Shijo Karasuma

When I go to Kyoto in the future, I will stay here.  The location was ideal.  From JR Kyoto station it was a 5 minute subway (2 stops) ride and the subway station was located next to the hotel on Shijo and Karasuma.  There were so many food options--next door had the basement food section of Daimaru department store, Nishiki-koji was one street up, Shijo-dori had numerous restaurants.  If shopping is your passion, Shijo-dori had plenty of stores and the twin shopping streets of Teramanchi and Shinkyogoku are about 10 minutes walk to the northeast.  Access to tourist sites is easy since the subway (and JR train) is nearby and Shijo-dori is a major bus route.

The hotel was the nicest businessman hotel I stayed at and in addition to the usual amenities, it had coin-operated washer/dryers.  The single was the nicest I stayed in and the bed seemed larger than at the other hotels.
