Dropping off Irma at work, Made and me painfully shopped for the souvenirs: local snacks, sandals, etc.. Our least favorite thing to do! We had decided, next time off to somewhere for a vacation/ even a business trip, make sure to get all the souvenirs done at the first day of trip. No hassles left for the next days..
Picking Irma up, we had our dinner together at Indonesian food restaurant at Jalan Raya Kuta. The place called Plengkung, if I'm not mistaken. The food was so-so but it was really cheap. Try the ayam penyet, I think that's their favorite menu to offer besides the plecing kangkung itself (Plengkung: Plecing Kangkung?).
SInce the three of us have spent the energy out of different ways (Irma with her meeting and Made & me with our souvenir hunting race), we decided to visit one more place and call it a day. So the picked spot was Bubba Gump, shrimp restaurant. Yup, we apparently have Bubba Gump here in Indonesia, not in Jakarta, but cleverly placed in Bali, where most of the crowds will be happily paying such ridiculously pricey (but delicious.. yummy..) shrimps! And also it was quite a dining experience! They had this metal signboards placed on each table, written: Run, Forrest, Run! and the other: Stop! Forrest, Stop!. The first sign is to indicate that we are settled with everything, nothing to order, nothing to ask, etc. While the latter one, that means a yelling out to the waiters for services/ assistances. How fun!
Seeing Bubba Gump has opened their restaurant in Bali, I started to think how profitable opening a restaurant/ hospitality business here. Irma and I agreed with Made that in terms of opening your restaurant, it's not Jakarta or Bandung, but Bali is the perfect place to do so. You can sell any food, as long as it's good and suit the foreigner's tongue, decorate the venue nicely, give a bit of Balinese thingy here and there, greet them with smile & an OK service, aaand charge them a reasonable price. Voila!
