Dan and Mick take us on a short walk to Middle Springs through some more prickly grass to see some aboriginal artwork on the rock walls. we are the first tour group taken here and its Dan's first visit too. We must have made a good impression on Mick.
There is some spirit heads again and feet & hands sprayed on by chewing red bark and spitting around the body part on the wall. They are quite fascinating to see and hear Micks stories.
Mick lets Anne, Dave & me ride out in his truck & offers us a chance to offroad drive, I jump at the chance and am soon bumping around in a big 4x4 back up the track out. Dave and Anne also have a turn but Anne hits a big bump & goes out of control heading for a big tree, luckily she gets control again just enough to swerve an inch right and hit a small twiggy tree instead of the strong one. It was hysterical & poor Anne got the pee took outta her all day for that.
Anne drove us to Molly springs without further incident & we walked to a pool at the end with a little waterfall trickling over. I did some jumping in and tried to catch some fish with Nikki, then perfected my diving technique. No thigh slapping now! We met Mick back at the trucks & he'd made us some stubby coolers out of tree bark as gifts. It was really nice & sad saying goodbye to him.
We head off now on the long drive across the border from Western Australia into Northern Territory. Stopping for some border shots then driving on.
We get to camp at sunset which is at a rocky viewpoint, a far cry from our lovely bushcamps but its our last night & its dark so no-one can see the scenery anyway. We have some huge T-Bone Steaks for dinner & drink lots of goon and tell stories to win tattoos. Nikki teaches me how to play Chasing Cars on the guitar and after a lot of embarassing stories, dancing & bad guitar playing we roll into our swags ready for a 'before sunrise' start tomorrow. We sleep in a big circle our heads towards the campfire and its so cosy and warm I don't even get into my swag.
