The Chitwa Chitwa Game Lodge is a fantastic place to stay. In fact, we cannot wait to get back there one day.
We arranged everything through a travel agent so I have no idea what we actually paid but I am sure it was not the brochure price of something like $700 per day. Your stay includes 2 game drives per day (one before dawn and one after lunch, each lasts about 3 hours), all meals, lodging, plus use of the facilities (pool basically, bush walk, etc.).
The food is fantastic. They have a gourmet chef who tells you about your meal before dinner. The fare is African with a Mediterranean influence. At dinner you are offered a game option (while we were there we were offered Snouk (fish), Wildebeast, and Impala) as well as a traditional option (chicken, pork, beef, lamb, vegetarian).
We were given lodge number 2 which is next to and attached to the honeymoon suite with a private pool. It overlooks the lake where hippos bathe and where the animals come to drink at night. There are regularly impala or elephants around the lake. Hyenas come at night.
There are certain rules that you have to follow (no walking around alone at night without your ranger as it can be dangerous) and getting up at 5.30AM can be a drag, but it's well worth the experience.
