We took the 2hr ferry from Ko Phi Phi and then we head to our hostal/hotel/bungalow. It was located just and the bottom of one of the mountains of the region so in order to get there we have to turn right from the main rd of An Nang area, then head into the jungle like 250m on an un pavement road and there it was (www.krabifasai.com). The atmosphere is just peaceful, with the sounds of the jungle; trees, birds and the wind. We decided to have dinner in one of the many eat what you want buffé for 220 baths, like 6 usd.
Everything can be hire through Mr. Banana who is the owner of the place and it’s well known in the area. So he is the GM and activities coordinator of the place, he even booked our flights to Bangkok. Well Mr. Banana also hire us a Kayak tour through the mangroves of the area. (www.vipatropical.com) (www.mrbananakrabi.com) (www.krabiseaside.com)
We were the last Kayak of the tour, mainly because we where the only kayak with three people on it. We just could do it together because every try result in a coalition of sticks in the air. Anyway we made and we were in the middle of a magnificent landscape with fantastic trees roots at both sides. The mountains behind them were “green green green, as the grass is green green” like Polo Polo will say. Then we ran into a big family of wild monkeys that as curious as they are the started to jumped into the kayaks so we feed them with our probations (watermelon and pineapple). When ever we threw a slice in the water they jumped grab it and swam either to the kayaks or to the roots of the trees. Today was the last day of Pedro so after say goodbye to our friend we decided to head to one of the bars on the main street to try the local rum!!!
The next day we took another tour but this time on a boat to four islands around Krabi. Our accompaniments were the kiwis we met the day before, great couple (Lucy & Guido). We went to Chicken Is, Tup Island, Poda Is and Raleigh Is. In this last one we found the monument to fertility and great landscapes and hips of climbing activities. But, I reckon the most amazing thing of this tour was the low and hide tide between Poda and Tup islands. What happens is that on low tide both islands are interconnected by sand, but on high tide this connection is completely erased by the sea. So if you cross to one of them and you want to go back to late, you’ll have to do it by boat.
Here is a tip for those who want to come to Thailand, watch out for the “ladyboys”, for what is “same same but different” and no problem “tomorrow”. This last two are ways of avoiding conflicts. The first one is quite obvious.
After saying goodbye to Alvaro the third part of my trip had started. All by my self.
It was actually hard saying good bye to Mr. Ek and Mr. Banana staff that shared with me the last days in the southern part of Thailand but, it was time to head to the north of it.
