Greetings to all from the new country of Montenegro which just voted to become independant from Serbia last month. We got another early bus (dont these countries know I am not a morning person!) from Dubrovnik to the city of Kotor in Montenegro. Kotor is pretty small and is at the end of "the longest fjord in Eastern Europe", yes Im quoting Lonely Planet on that one! We arrived and were found by a little old man at the bus station who took us to a room at his house and kept speaking German to us which is not going all that well since my German is about seven years too rusty to be all that helpful. It all works out though, never underestimate the power of speaking with your hands, you look pretty stupid but it seems to work! We walked around the old town, which again is surrounded by a wall like every other town/city for the last 10 days. Then we began the trek up the 1500 steps to the fortress on top of the mountain which about killed me and then back down where I lost all feeling in my legs so I had to get some more pizza! The views were pretty awesome but its not a hike Id like to do twice.

We somehow managed to arrive during a summer festival which was pretty cool. They had some kids doing skits and teenage girls doing some dances to some eighties like music with absolutely no energy or emotion in there face it was pretty comical.

Kotor seems to be a bit off the trail as we didnt notice any other tourists there which I love because it makes me feel very adventurous. The buildings were also very decrepit as well. Whether they were simply old or had been damaged in the war (which many things have) Im not sure but I felt like I was in a time warp. The town also has the largest poplulation of cats Ive ever seen, some very cute others very scary and chillin out in the garbage cans...no thanks!
