We have certainly been very impressed by this beautiful clipper ship and her friendly and organized crew. This ship is kept up daily...someone is always polishing the brass.

The rooms are very comfortable and finished very nicely in polished woods. There was more than enough storage in our room ( C-234 ). The public rooms (the library, the piano bar, the Forward Lounge) are very well appointed, with plenty of room. The sedate and classy decor of the ship gives a calming effect and made me feel right at home from the beginning of our cruise. Also, there are computers in the Forward Lounge for which you can buy time if you need to stay connected. There are three pools on deck and when the ship is in port they sometimes lower the water sport marina platform at the stern of the ship where you can take part in water sports if you wish.

We are encouraged to enjoy the sailing experience by watching from the bridge when we set sail (is awesome when they set full sail and leave port), climbing up into the crow's nest, and relaxing in the bow net ( also called the widow's net) while underway.

The food is superb and there is plenty of it. Breakfast and lunch are served buffet style and dinner is off a menu. Every afternoon, there is a "snack" set up in the Tropical Bar that is very nice (ice cream and toppings, cookies cakes, small sandwiches, etc) at 5 p.m. There is a couple who sing and play in the afternoon and evening in the Tropical Bar and later in the Piano Bar. Thank heaven, there is no casino on this ship either.

The passenger size of the ship is only 220 with 104 crew members which makes this so much more comfortable and relaxing than those huge mega-ships that are cruising now. Star Clippers, who own the Royal Clipper, also have a couple smaller ships. The Royal Clipper is the largest clipper ship sailing right now, with five full masts.

I would highly recommend this particular sailing ship.

We are just back from the same cruise on the Royal Clipper. Found your blog beforehand and it was really helpful. Loved your photos too! Thanks for sharing your experience.
