So I was in cheorwon, otherwise known as the closest city in Kangwon-do to the DMZ today and yesterday and it was much like I thought it would be. It was very nice with a huge military presence. Some wierd things would have to be the constant pointing over the mountains by my co-teachers saying "the north koreans are right over there". lol. Or another good one was whenever we would cross a bridge in the car my co-teacher would turn to me and say..."you know...all these bridges have explosives on them so that if North Korea invades we blow them up so they cant come further south" lol also very re-assuring lol. I was there on a so-called business trip to interact with the other english teachers from my province and compare ideas and suggestions. They were all mostly lame but we made the best of it and at least my best bud in Korea (Benny) was there from Yanggu. We drank and partied and a good time was had for the most part. The DMZ is pretty safe I guess with all the military there but they kept telling us "it is so safe here, dont be affraid" but are they idiots or something?...lol...you can put as many soldiers as you want at the gate lol but then you gotta realize that missles can fly right over LOL. So Funny. Anyways, tensions are not all that high around here about all that stuff so to the family: no worries. Christmas is comming and everyday I get more and more homesick. I really miss you guys. Anyways, some more pics are on the way and I should have a bunch more stories to come as it will be a busy few months to come. Love you all!
